Pick authors you admire and study their work. How do they structure sentences? How do they hook readers? What words do they choose? This is learning without explicitly learning.

Read Across Genres

Don't just read what you normally read. Branch out. Read poetry, non-fiction, scientific papers, everything. Each genre has something to teach you about language and expression.

I found that reading mystery novels taught me about pacing. Reading poetry taught me about word choice. Reading essays taught me about structure. Every page holds lessons.
